C v Cherokees
UWA 8 v Cherokees 8
04/02/12 - This week on two and a half women...
Bronwen contemplates the joys of playing right field after a technical error with the teams list, she promptly tells Coach Tim to get stuffed.
Amy brews over the dilema of whether or not to ask and undisclosed male out while her wrist is in poor condition -_^, wow did I just say that, guess I did theres a few ways that can be taken I'll leave it to your imagination, and Kate realises that Tim has just made another short joke at her expense... women women women women women women women god damn women! (apologies to the religious types, hail mary)
Well unfortunately there isn't alot for me to pick on this week, the UWAC pretty much did everything right, Issy even put down a hit to the right side to drive in a run after learning about it on thursday, the draw really all came down to a mammoth line drive down the first base line that disappeared over the horrizon scoring the other team a grand slam in the final innings to tie things up. Coach Tim ended up with umpiring duties again which brought into play the well experience possibly psychotic Coach Amy, who seemed to have some interesting signals, one which included tugging on her pony tail.
In terms of performance the girls managed to pull a tag play off at home, a run down play after relaying the ball in from the outfield, some solid catches in the outfield and decent batting performances by all, even if some of the calls were a bit dodgy, mainly for Bronwen... it was funny ok :p. As was well pointed out by Coach Amy, this actually improves on last years performances whilst being umpired by Tim, usually the girls have no chance of winning under these circumstances so really a draw is pretty fantastic.
Special Mentions;
- Issy batting to the opposite side.
- Carlotta making some specky catches in the outfield
- Megan for not really doing much (just kidding :P)
- Cassandra for again proving that if you cant say anything nice dont say nothing at all, or just say nothing at all in general
- Bronwen for making it down to the game in a happy mood after being brutally butchered at training, pics online.

C v Cherokees
UWA 15 v Cherokees 10
19/11/11 - This week on man verses wild…
UWAC go deep into the Yokine jungle to track down and slaughter the native Cherokees, Tim struggles to explain base running to his players whilst scoring. Bronwen tries hard to make a bird call for a 4th out and everyone laughs at her.
Cass shows us how to blend in with your surroundings by making absolutely no sound or movement at all.
But first a special mention about a very special creature that is now on the endangered species list…
It was once referred to as the Tortured Innocent Male (Tim) or in the native tongue “Tim can you drag the 20kg shade cloth half way across the oval, set it up, direct us on what to do, dispute decisions we don’t like, score occasionally and then at the end of the day pack everything up and take it home and bring it to training during the week and listen to us generally complain about everything because we are girls”. This brilliant but shy creature has been hounded and subjected to some of the most cruel, inhumane treatment imaginable, coaching a women’s softball team. There have been many organisations set up to help protect the Tim but many lead scientists hypothesize that if everyone in the team offers to help out by carrying the shade and equipment, Tim can make a fully recovery.
Meanwhile at the Yokine Jungle…
The Cherokees looked ready to put up a fight in the first couple of innings, take a slight lead after the first and producing a quick 3 outs in the 2nd to keep the UWAC down. Luckily the thought of defeat spurred the UWAC players into a frenzy, Kym’s pitching speed doubled in an instant absolutely destroying the opposing teams line up. A couple of changes to the infield with Bronwen moving over to shortstop and Cass to 2nd based proved efficient and together with Kym’s improved pitching the opposition were limited to a total of 4 runs over the next 3 innings. This gave the UWAC batters a chance to step up, MMA (Mumbles Mostly Alchin) once again proving herself in the lead off spot and general good batting performances from the rest of the team allowed us to creep in front for the win.
A good performance from the girls to notch up their 2nd win for the season. Special Mentions;
- Kym Burgess for playing down and pitching
- Bronwen for shouting out for the play to be made at first even though it was already 3 out.
- Carlota for striking out a couple of times and not being able to understand what the umpire was saying.
- Rina’s dad for his 60th birthday

C v Cherokees
UWA 2 v Cherokees 12
12/11/11 - This weekend the UWA C grade team faced up against a team of Kings, I mean literally there were six players all with the last name of King, you know when you face up against an entire family of softball players it’s going to be a tough game. Never the less the UWAC took the field with a mean look of determination on their faces, well most of them at least, Isabella seemed quite intent to chew on her nails and do the occasional cartwheel, you can’t look mean and do a cartwheel it just doesn’t work, it’s like trying to convince people that Justin Beiber is one of the most talented singers to hit the charts this decade… you’ll either be stabbed or laughed at.
UWAC was lead out by our trusty 2nd assistant coach / assistant manage… who am I kidding… the one with the loudest voice Bronwen as the coach was busy scoring and the manager had a week off.
You know I’d just like to say at this point that is near impossible to coach and score at the same time, every time I wanted to say something or give advice, I realised there was something else to write down or do with the score book, maybe one day in the future when I can telepathically send out instructions to my players it will be possible. Anyways after the first innings things were looking good the score line was a manageable 2 – 1 in the kings favour with MMA proving herself once again in the number one batting spot by getting on bag an scoring our first run.
The rest of the game really came down to two players who unfortunately were both in the opposing team, the lead off batter and centerfielder of the Cherokees continually scored runs with solid hits and caught anything that was hit roughly in her direction. The other player was their 9th batter and pitcher who once again was a solid batter and kept our players out of the game with some decent pitching, after assessing the opposition mid game I realised this was more like UWA C vs last years Cherokees B grade team yet even so the UWAC kept the opposition down below the fatal and humiliating 20 run mark and pushed the game out to 5 innings.
Special Mentions;
· Isabella got her first safe hit!
· MMA constantly improving crossing the plate twice to score our only runs
· Bronwen for once again proving she is without a doubt the loudest on the field and having the passion to go along with it
· Carlota being fined because certain other players are jealous of how great her arse and legs are, although to me they seem a bit chubby or maybe bulky… =p
· Andy for being told to come in a bit, then running off the field to ask what I meant
· Amy for not being there, because I can :P

C v Vikings
UWA 10 v Vikings 13
22/10/11 - Thank you to Kate for coming down and helping me coach!
Everytime we batted we got atleast one run over the plate and we held the Vikings to one bat where they didn't score a run. The final score was 13 - 10.
Carlotta was put in a new position at shortstop and left field and put in 100%, she also batted really well and gave me a heart attack a few times with her base running but overall did very well in her second game. Well what can I say about Bronwyn, fashionable late, had great voice on the field and a safe hit!.
Cass again playing her second game started to show off her hard work at training but using those skills at second. She also worked hard in the batter's box and got 2 walks. Isabella, well who knew you could throw so far! Isbaella chase down a few bigs hits in the outfield and stopped a certain home run with her throw, she was very unlucky in her last at bat with a great catch of her hit.
Brooke Cronin showed that right field isn't a hiding position by covering not only 1st base but 2nd, she got 2 walks and ran the bases well. Welcome back Maitlyn! Her great work at first made a number of outs with those long arms (even after a ball the night before) hope to see you again!.
Rachel J in her first game showed that you don't loose the basis you learn as a kid, Some fast leg speed got her on base and some energy on the field will make the outs. Well done RJ, and the two stars of the game Rachel A and Megan. Megan with 2 great catches in the outfield (which the opposition coach where heard to say that no one will get there), our lead off batter with 2 safe hits, 2 stole bases and 1 walk. It's going to take a superstar to knock her off the lead off batting position. And last but not least Rachel A in her second game pitched the whole game, to a VERY tough strike zone only walked 1 batter, had 2 safe hits herself and two stolen bases. Overall a great game.

C v North Coast
UWA 17 v North Coast 6
04/12/10 - It was a lovely day for softball, unfortunately for Little Miss Sunshine, the unofficial self appointed team captain, something was a miss. After the first innings we were up by more then 10 runs, but for Little Miss Sunshine this meant dire consequences.
As the team was up 10 runs the cruel uncaring coach decided that there would be no more stealing. Earlier that day Little Miss Sunshine had managed to gain her first legitimate stolen base (not a WP or PB), but the evil coach sensing her excitement and maybe to a small degree, thinking about being courteous to the opposition team, who had struggled to make a pitch to the plate, had taken away Little Miss Sunshines only hope.
Little Miss Sunshine was not happy, an opportunity to vent some anger arose when the opposition team managed to get their first play on bag all the way around to third where Little Miss Sunshine was playing. A tag play was on but the ball was late! the opposing player made a mistake and over ran the bag, Little Miss Sunshine sensed her opportunity!... everything was in slow motion... and silent.... then BAM!! Little Miss Sunshine smashed the opposition into the ground and made the tag, promptly shouting out, In your face, this is my bag b*tch and then skipping off contently.
It was a well deserved win in the end, after the ten run lead was built up and it was clear we would win, I let the girls loose to have some fun and they got some good batting practise in and had some fun. To top it all off Little Miss Sunshine gave everyone a candy cane.
The End

C v Malaga Marshalls
UWA 20 v Malaga Marshalls 9
06/11/10 - One of the closest games of the season for C grade. The game was all tied up until the 3rd inning (coincidentally the same time the coach returned from base-umpiring) when they pulled away to win by 7 runs. Melody pitched a good game and though there were a few errors, they more than made up for it with batting. Melody hit a triple and followed up with a home run batting 1.000 for the day. Good games also to Kate who played down to catch, and Erin who took 3 walks.

30/10/10 - Another top game and Rina’s second ever time pitching. While Rina held them to 8 runs with great back-up from the field, the girls batted really well taking the walks if they were there and giving the field a work-out. Well done to Claire H and Claire V both batting perfect games, also Brooke C for not getting a chance to hit but taking all 3 at bats as walks.

C v North Coast
UWA 22 v North Coast 0
23/10/10 - Sadly another opposition team without a pitcher. While they struggled to get the ball over the plate, our girls were again very disciplined in the box. After walking the first 6 batters, their pitcher figured out where the strike zone was and our girls were getting plenty of hits, including Kate who went 2-2 with 1 double, Brooke with 2 doubles, Melody with a triple and Leanda (thanks for filling in) with a triple and a home run.
Fielding-wise it was a very short game. Rina had her first ever time pitching and did a sterling job with a 7-pitch first innings and a 9 pitch second innings. Melody was brought in for the last innings and it ended up being a 33 pitch game on our side. End score was 22-0 well done girls!

05/02/12 - It had been two months since the University Provincial Reserves 1 team last won a game, an exercise on futility that parallels only the Australian Labor Party’s wilderness years following the re-election of Menzies and the engineered split with the DLP over the issue of the Communist Party.
