16/10/10 - First game of the season and with half a team of new faces we weren’t sure how it was going to go, but the girls were awesome. We started with Melody pitching who only gave away one walk for the whole game.

There were a few nervous errors, but they didn’t really end up costing us with some solid fielding. The opposition had no pitcher and our girls were very disciplined in the box, taking the walks if they were there. After a few fouls, Meldody finally managed to get the ball on the field for a triple.

Also special mention to Brooke who had 2 walks and 3 hits. Thanks to Felicity for catching and Ellen for filling in and getting a solid 4 line-drive hits. End score 17-10

Provincial League v Balcatta (Preliminary Final)

UWA 16 v Balcatta 18

18/03/12 – UWA and Balcatta have had some great battles in the past, and the March 18th 2012 Preliminary Final would be no different.

Balcatta hit the scoreboard first, after scoring a run via a fielder’s choice in the 1st inning. UWA hit back in the bottom of the 2nd, scoring 3 runs. Then the arm wrestling began, with UWA and Balcatta pounding on the runs, with multiple lead changes.

UWA jumped out to a 4 run lead in the bottom of the 7th, which only lasted half an inning, with Balcatta fighting back and scoring 4 to tie it up after 8 complete innings. Balcatta then took a 3 run lead into the bottom of the 9th. UWA fought back, tieing the game again with a 2 out rally. Bring on extra innings, it is time for Free Baseball.

Balcatta struck first, scoring 2 runs in the top of the 10th. UWA was then unable to repeat the 9th inning affair, going down 18 to 16 in 10 complete innings.
