PL3 v Carine Cats

UWA 3 v Carine Cats 6

30/10/11 - This match turned out to be a milestone match for one of the Carine players which resulted in them dropping a number of PL1 players to try and secure a win for the occasion. As one of those players dropped was the pitcher it was going to make for a difficult game especially for those new players to the club who now had to face a much faster pitcher than anything they had faced before. Having said that, we started of well by scoring 2 runs in the first and holding Carine for two innings.

Unfortunately though our fielding was found wanting in the middle innings which allowed Carine to put 3 runs on us is in back to back innings with only one of them being earned. Al did a sensational job from the mound in his first game of the season and Bali was fantastic behind the plate, also in his first game. Our batting was ok considering the opposition with many of the team getting bat on ball however many of those hits did not get through the infield.

I imagine that next time we play Carine the team will be vastly different and with a better fielding performance we will give them a better run.

PL3 v Kalamunda

UWA 17 v Kalamunda 2

23/10/11 - The PL3's picked up there first W for the season on the weekend against Kalamunda behind the fantastic performance of the Pascoe brothers on the plate and at the dish. Ben threw a fantastic game, shutting down Kalamunda's offence and the bats came out to play when we had our turn at the plate. Most if not all of the team managed to get at least a hit or walk which allowed us to put a lot of pressure on the young Kalamunda pitchers and resulted in many pass balls and stolen basses. All around a great performance from the team and shows that we will be a force to contend with again this season. Thanks should also go to Tony who helped out coaching from 3rd base and giving advice to many of the new players, it was greatly apreciated by all.

PL3 v Eastern Hills

UWA 10 v Eastern Hills 10

16/10/11 - The team jumped out to a great start against Eastern Hills scoring 4 runs in the first innings and holding Eastern Hills scoreless. The third inning provided us with another 4 runs on the back of some clutch hitting and solid base running.

There were a number of great at bats with the opposing pitcher struggling to hit his targets with the strong winds. Jeremy Faux pitched a great match to Tim Stivey however we again did not back up our pitcher in the field making a couple of costly errors especialy in the 4th and 5th inning which allowed Eastern Hills to bridge the gap and finally draw the game in the 5th inning.

Unfortunately we had no back up pitcher to go to to finish of the game when Jeremy was starting to struggle in the heat and high winds. All in all a good game allowing a number of the new players to the club, a chance to get some time in the field and at the plate.

PL3 v Kelmscott

UWA 2 v Kelmscott 18

09/10/11 - We went into the first game of the season with 5 of our premiership winning teammates unavailable and one retirement (Porter). This therefore gave a number of new players to the club the opportunity to step up and show what they could do. Kelmscott proved to be a strong team this year with many of the players from higher divisions dropping down. In the field we struggled making a number of errors which made it hard on Goose on the mound who had to pitch for close to an hour in the second innings. At this stage the game was well and truly over however most of the team showed fight by getting hits or at least bat on ball in the box. All in all a disappointing start to the season going down 18 – 2 however the experience in the field and at the plate will hold us in good stead later in the season.

PL3 v Carine Cats (Preliminary Final)

UWA 22 v Carine Cats 7

Grand Final: Rockingham Rams v UWA Whips @ Richard Guelfi Reserve - 10am 03/04/11 27/03/11 - After a disappointing semi final game last week, PL3s faced a do-or-die clash with last year's PL3's runners up Carine. If UWA was to repeat their performance from last week, then it would be their last week of finals. Simple proposition. The smart pundits on the Fielders Blog knew this and were predicting Carine to win. However, kids don't believe everything that you read on the internet. Except when it is about St Kilda football players. Pictures says 1000 words and so did this week's PL3 scoreline. Al Reid started for the Whips and from the start it was a very clinical performance from the himself, with a solid defensive effort. The batting display was excellent with a total of 22 hits. Combined with a few absentees and injuries to the Cats line-up, the game turned into an old fashion ass whipping - a pussy whip. Best of luck to Dale and Stacey, when they tie the knot on Saturday.

06/02/11 - Playing up at Chidlow Recreation Ground with the threat of bushfires, we started the game with a quick review of our escape strategy. Half way through the game, Shanks decided that that there were more important things than baseball and promptly left the game. I think some of the Eastern Hills players wanted to join him as the UWA's PL3 put on a clinical display of baseball. It was like taking dogs for a walk, or in Eastern Hill's case Kangaroos – there were contributions all over the park. Lead by Goose on the hill - great team effort. We won 15-2.

12/12/10 - With the PL1s having a bye this weekend and as such no match report available, this write up for the PL3s will lack some of the inspiration that previous editions has bought - much like a 6 inch penis - solid but unspectacular. Having said that I could really write about anything here, because I have a feeling that the amount of people that read this is just like Anthony Mundine - down. If I had a wicked name like Light My Farts (LMF to his mates) then I suspect the readership maybe different, but unfortunately my Mum called me Andrew. Maybe I should have a porn name. Any ideas?

The weekend's game was 2nd versus 4th, a big game in the context of PL3s final ladder position. Our regular fans (or fan) will know that UWA is 2nd. Special thanks to all that played, especially Dale, who came all the way from Mandurah for the game. Like a Playboy Magazine, the players contributed a nice even spread however there was one stand out performance. Player of the match was undoubtedly Mark Porter. He had more hits than the WCE at a Columbian Cocaine convention. Amazing what a week off does for the old body. Special mention to Dave Stivey (just a mention - nothing more) and to his lovely wife for scoring. (Our scorer's position is currently vacant. For only giving up your time for the 6 games left in the regular season, you will get a cheesy present from the team at the presentations night. A great deal not to be missed)

Thank you loyal fan for reading this. If you would like to discuss how I can get more dick jokes into this write-up, please have a chat to me on Thursday after training. However, with that being the last PL3 game for the calender year - have a safe and merry xmas - lots of love - your PL3 coach. PS We won.

05/12/10 - According to Al Reid, you know you are going to be worse for wear the next day if you end up sculling red wine straight from the bottle the night before, that comment seemed to sum up the display the team gave today.

We welcomed Matt Fouhy and Dale Blackman for their first game in PR3 and with our star studded line up we went out all guns blazing. The first couple of innings were slow, we only scored 1 run thanks to an error by the coach who forgot how many were out and decided to run home on a full count with one down. Eastern hills managed to stear ahead briefly but were ultimately cut down when the coach dragged himself for a slightly hung over Mike Waller. Over the next two innings we managed to score 14 runs all off 2 down rallies and a strategical pitching change at the end ensured the victory.

Special mention to Justin Mann, welcome back to form. Also Fouhy deserves a special mention for going up to bat without a helmet, after laughing at Tim who stood in front of him moments before patting his head, Fouhy's response was to start rubbing his stomach and patting his head at the same time completely oblivious to the fact he had no helmet.
Also let us have a moment of silence for the ticks that died of alcohol poisoning trying to suck blood out of certain team members.

28/11/10 - Whilst not such an epic game as PL1s and its remarkable resemblance to Blake's Seven - PL3s did resemble another TV series on Seven - The Family Guy. There were a few overweight guys, a couple of chicks with mullets, lots of Kangaroo Shit on the ground and some Christian Group providing sweet deltatones from the clubrooms. And how sweet was that music - the game was played at such joyful spirits, that there were numerous hugs, a bit of hand holding and a few ass taps. However I should probably talk about the baseball game and not what was going on in the changerooms / toilets. Man of the Match - Justin Mann. 4 Hits (the scorer didn't have a red pen, so everyone either got a hit, a walk or a strikeout) and also a 5-4-3 double play with Jon. Nice.
For the record UWA won 11-2.
