Provincial League v Kalamunda
UWA 5 v Kalamunda 10
23/10/11 - Kalamunda game...
Michael Smith threw 3+ solid innings adding 2 hits at the plate. Adam Burrell came in and pitched solid. Matt Don caught an a good game and had quality at bats hitting the ball hard all day. As a team we struggled at the plate and left a number of runners in scoring position againts a pitcher who we should do some damage to. That with, I believe 4 errors mixed into some timely hitting by Kalamunda left us with a 10-5 defeat, and thinkin of what could have been. Kitty Cats this week!!

Provincial League v Curtin
UWA 15 v Curtin 5
09/10/11 - Whips Season Off to a Great Start
The season opener saw the Whips take on cross university rivals in Curtin at UWA Sports Park. The Whips were sporting a new look PL side with Koji Honda making his debut for the club and Milfy making his PL debut. The team performed well with Owen Reid doing an outstanding job on the hill. Curtin jumped out to a 3 nill lead but after the first, Reid settled allowing no more runs in his 5 innings of work. The UWA bats fired in the 3rd with a 6 run inning and continued through out the game compiling 15 runs for the game. AB came in for two inning to see the game finish up 15 to 5.
Special mention to Clint Leighton who did the job with the stick and playing solid defence in centre. Next week will be a test against the much fancied Balcatta and their import pitcher.

Provincial League v Balcatta (Preliminary Final)
UWA Whips v Rockingham Rams in Grand Final
Game 1: Rockingham Rams v UWA Whips @ Barbagallo Ballpark - 7pm 31/03/11
Game 2: UWA Whips v Rockingham Rams @ Hourglass Reserve - 10.30am 03/04/11
Game 3: Rockingham Rams v UWA Whips @ Hourglass Reserve - 2pm 03/04/11 (If required)
27/03/11 - The UWA PL team went into the Semi Final against Balcatta as underdogs but came out as winners, convincingly beating the Bears 11 to 2. It was a classic team effort by the Whips who got on the board early courtesy of a Torpy solo home run. The sticks were alive all day with 6 home runs swiped including 3 from Torpy, 2 from Owen Reid and 1 from AB. Owen's grand slam in the 6th put the nail in the coffin but the boys didnt stop fighting putting up several more runs for the rest of the game.
Defence was outstanding with Torpy throwing a gem on the hill. Torpy threw 9 innings giving up 4 hits and 2 runs against a dangerous Balcatta line up. Fielding was outstanding with no errors and the infielders in particular doing their part to get outs.
Overall a solid game with contributions all round. Standouts were Pete who through a blinder and did work with the bat. Reids games defining Grand Slam and AB's solid work at the plate collecting multiple hits.
The boys have earned the right to be in the Grand Final against the Rams who will no doubt go in as favourites. That doesnt matter to us, we have been underdogs all final series......I think it suits!!!!

Provincial League v Curtin
UWA 19 v Curtin 9
06/02/11 - With potentially our season on the line the boys were fired up to play. We knew our hitting would either win us the ball game or lose it. We started with a bang getting 4 runs in the top of the 1st. We held a 4-0 lead even though Curtin hit back with 2 in the bottom of the 3rd, with the score being a little close for comfort the boys scored another 2 in th 6th. To Curtin's credit they came out and scored 3 in the bottom half of the inning. This is where our bats went to work, in the top of the 7th we scored another 4 while Curtin answered with 4 of their own but we were too strong in the top of the 8th and we put up a 9 run inning to eventually win 19-9.
Stand outs were:
Westy behind the dish also going 3-5 with a triple and homerun 3 rbis
Owen Reid again 2 for 2 both Home runs and 4 rbis
Travis Ottey 2 - 4 a home run and 3 rbis.
Neil Major 3-6 2 2B 1 RBi
Adam Barrell 2 - 5 1 2B 2 RBIs

Provincial League v Kelmscott
UWA 12 – Kelmscott 2
30/01/11 - A good win that the boys needed! We came out with the goal of winning every inning and we did that bar 1 - we didnt get to bat in that inning. Scorring 5 in the 1st, 2 in the 2nd, 1 in the 3rd and 4 in the 4th! Everyone contributing with the bat Stillo being the standout going 1 for 1, 3rbi 2 SF. Travis Ottey also picking up 2 rbis going 1 for 3.
With a tough game coming up this weekend against Curtin the boys focus has shifted pretty quickly to them and are looking forward to the challenge

Provincial League v Rockingham
UWA 10 v Rockingham 15
16/01/11 - The game was all about the big inning. We out hit Rockingham 18 - 13. We played better defence 1 error to 4 but we left 12 runners to 6 on base. After an injury to Trav on the hill to the second batter it really put us on the back foot with our plans. Rockingham had 3 big innings 1st (4 runs), 3rd (5) and the 5th (5) that hurt us the most. It was a strong batting perfomance accross the board from the whips. Going down 10-15

Provincial League v Carine
UWA 6 v Carine 7
09/01/11 - With our first game back after the break the boys learnt a bit of a lesson tht every play counts. We gave Carine too many runs early and it was just too much for us to get back eventually going down 7-6.
A great performance on the hill from both Owen Reid 6in 7 hits 9k 2ER 7RS and a welcome back to Travis Ottey 3in 3 hits 2K 0ER 0RS.
A good performance in the box from Emerging star Chris Wescombe 3 for 5 1 2B 1 HR 2RBI, Justin Stillitano 2 for 5 1 2B and Stu Madden 2 for 4 1SB. Unfortunatly we didnt get the timly hits when needed.
Tough week coming up against Rockingham

Provincial League v Curtin
UWA 9 v Curtin 11
05/12/10 - The game started off well for UWA, by putting up 3 runs in the top of the 1st inning from a 2 RBI double to Pete Torpy. Unfortunately for Owen who didn't have his best stuff and a very indifferent strike zone Curtin answered straight away with 3 runs of their own.
UWA continued to put the pressure on, by scoring 2 in the 3rd and 1 in the 4th while Owen battled away and kept us in front. Curtin then found their bats again and scored 1 in the 5th, 3 in the 6th, 3 in the 7th and 1 in the 8th. We tried to rally and scored 2 in the top of the ninth but we just could get another 2 runs to get us in to the bottom of the 9th. Final score UWA 9 Curtin 11.

Provincial League v Kelmscott
UWA 39 v Kelmscott 3
28/11/10 - The boys went to work yesterday with a well deserved win beating Kelmscott 39-3. Everyone was selective in the box and didnt get frustrated which is an easy thing to do in a game like this. Everyone contributing to the final result was pleasing.
Kyle "MILFY" Oppelaar and Chris Pascoe both making their PL debut and also Aaron McNally jumping back on the mound for his first appearance for the club.
Too many highlights to mention so please read the box score for results

17/03/12 - "Almost Perfect"
It was if the universe was aligned just for us on Saturday. With UWA being the "Good Girls in Green" combined with the fact that Saturday was St Patrick's Day, it seemed that things were going to go our way in our do-or-die Semi Final against Demons, however I couldn't have imagined things going our way quite the way they did.
