11/12/10 - UWA played a great game this week to beat the top team Bedford, it was a great team batting effort and strong fielding with player points going to Brittany Edgar and Tanielle Stivey

23/10/10 - With the big announcement early in the afternoon (30 mins before the game) that the A2 women's softball team had recruited and come to a deal to secure both Terry Francona (Pete Torpy and John Farrell (Dave Stivey) the team was looking to put the runs on the board and impress the new coaches.

And did they do it! In the new leadoff spot V-Mart (Tanielle) hit a lead off bomb to right centre to get the girls on the board early. A great first inning from Josh Beckett on the mound (Barb) putting up the zero needed.

There was some nerves going through the team with our 2 strike approach lacking. Demons got on the board through some tough hitting tying the game up at 1 all. In the third inning the coaches got the team together to just emphasized that 2 strike approach......"Just put the ball in play." And the girls made the adjustments.

We went to the small ball and steal game plan. Some very well executed bunts by Beltre (Bobby), Youk (Britt) Jacoby (Ash) and the girls got on the board scoring 2. Mixed in were some great plays at Short from Scutaro (Tam) keep the girls ahead 3-1. With Beckett doing a great job on the hill keeping the Demons hitters off base - only giving up 2 hits for the game while striking out 6. J.D. Drew (Fe) having some great at bats and long with Crawford (Clare) and Pedroia (Rach) leading the girls to scoring another 4 runs to close out the game. A great win and team effort! The girls did a fantastic job of getting a "W" on the board.

Provincial League v Balcatta (Preliminary Final)

UWA 16 v Balcatta 18

18/03/12 – UWA and Balcatta have had some great battles in the past, and the March 18th 2012 Preliminary Final would be no different.

Balcatta hit the scoreboard first, after scoring a run via a fielder’s choice in the 1st inning. UWA hit back in the bottom of the 2nd, scoring 3 runs. Then the arm wrestling began, with UWA and Balcatta pounding on the runs, with multiple lead changes.

UWA jumped out to a 4 run lead in the bottom of the 7th, which only lasted half an inning, with Balcatta fighting back and scoring 4 to tie it up after 8 complete innings. Balcatta then took a 3 run lead into the bottom of the 9th. UWA fought back, tieing the game again with a 2 out rally. Bring on extra innings, it is time for Free Baseball.

Balcatta struck first, scoring 2 runs in the top of the 10th. UWA was then unable to repeat the 9th inning affair, going down 18 to 16 in 10 complete innings.
