UWA Baseball and Softball Club History

UWA Baseball – Hall of Fame>>

Club History Timeline:

1947	CLUB FOUNDED. One team B Grade (Semi Finalists)
1948	A Res – Semi Finalist B Grade – 4th
1951	First Premiership – A Res
(Disbanded)
1968	Club Reformed, readmitted to WABL B Grade First Intervarsity (IV) Team (Adelaide)
1969	Club Enters A Grade (Current State League) Winter League A Grade (Uni Blue) – Semi Finalist A Res (Uni Red) – 4th
1970	Diamond located western side of McGillivray Oval (UWA Sports Park)
1971	Reintroduction of Night Baseball at Claremont Showgrounds
1973	Diamond moved to current location. First permanent diamond with cut outs in WABL
1974	A Grade – 3rd, best result 1969-1979
1975	IV Champions (Sydney)
1977	IV Champions (Perth)
1978	Men’s Softball commences
1979	Last Season in A Grade.
1980	Combined UWA / WAIT team – 8th
1984	A Res Premiers. Long time between Premierships WABL runs 6 games A Grade Night Series and incl UWA and Curtin University
1986	UWA commences involvement with coaching Dalkeith (Nedlands) Dodgers Juniors
1991	Now UWA Baseball and Softball Club, Womens Softball reformed, Baseball 6 teams Circa 1991 new Club House built
1994	Softball enters team in Inagural Women’s Baseball League (one season)
1999	B Grade Premiership. Third Premiership
2000 & 2001	AA Grade back to back Premierships
2002 & 2003	B and D Grade back to back Premierships
2003	Most Successful Season Baseball: B and D Grade Minor Prem & Premiers, AA Grade Minor Prem and Grand Finalists Oxford Cup Grand Finalists Silver Sands Cup Champions Women’s Softball: B1 – Minor Prem and Grand Finalists B2 – Semi Finalists Juniors – Grand Finalists
2004	All six teams in Finals (Baseball & Softball), three (3) Grand Finalists, D Grade Minor Prem. First all club grade Minor League games at new Baseball Park, UWA v Rockingham Silver Sands Cup Champions (back to back)
2006/07	UWA wins the inaugural Provincial League flag over Balcatta 6 – 4.
2008/09	Women’s Softball A2′s Minor Premiers and Premiers
2009/10	UWA wins Pre-Season Provincial League Tournament UWA Provincial League 3 Minor Premiers and Premiers Women’s Softball A2′s and B1′s Minor Premiers
2010/11	UWA Provincial League 3 Back to Back Premiers UWA Provincial League 3 Grand Finalists – Defeated by Rockingham Rams 2 games to 0 Women’s Softball
